Lemonade Stands?
Lemonade Stands?
Have you ever thought about easy ways to make money? Webpronews talked with cofounder of Lemonade.com, Thomas Zawacki, and a user of the new feature, Adrienne Durkin, to get the scoop of the new lemonade stand.
Remember back to the time when you had a lemonade stand outside of your house with the hopes of making some money? Now two men are taking this same idea and asking social network users to take a drink of their lemonade. Tim Smith and Thomas Zawacki introduced this online company to allow users to add a kiosk to their personal profiles and make money from the advertising space.
Cofounder of Lemonade.com, Thomas Zawacki:
Our goal is to allow anyone around the world to recommend, promote or sell any product or service that they feel strongly about.
The idea is very simple. You post products that you recommend and then hope to attract the viewer to the retailer page. There are over two million products available for viewing, allowing users to focus on certain products they really like. For example, mini-stands already created focus on wine or car stuff.
Cofounder of Lemonade.com, Thomas Zawacki:
This isn’t about large retailers, or marketers or advertising companies selling things. This is more about you as a person endorsing the products that you use in your daily life. So, for instance, if I'm an avid golfer and I have a favorite driver, I might recommend that driver, or if I’m a woman who loves my lucky jeans because they make me look great, I'm going to recommend my lucky jeans and hopefully then all my friends will look great too.
Granted, there is no guaranteed payoff yet the possibilities are endless.
Cofounder of Lemonade.com, Thomas Zawacki:
You make money as a lemonade stand owner, and you make money in a variety of ways. You make money if somebody comes in and buys products from you, you get a commission from the sale. If somebody comes in and participates in a promotion, the advertiser who is putting out that promotion pays you for that lead or acquisition. And if somebody clicks on your links, it’s a cost-per-click model and you can make money off of the clicks.
Lemonade’s been testing this application for about six months. Webpronews talked with one user who’s been testing out the stand.
Adrienne Durkin:
You take a look at how many people have looked at your page. Then ultimately, once things kick off, you can see how much revenue you’ve generated, so I think that’s the cool thing about it. Sharing stuff with your friends is interesting and cool, but taking a look at how many people have actually looked at it and seeing that you’ve made $30 this week off of something so simple as putting your wish list together, I think that is kind of neat.
This site is different because it pays the users when someone is directed to the actual retailer’s page from their stand. Right now users are paid via Paypal, but Zawacki mentioned he hoped to explore other areas of payment in the future. The company has partnered with 200 major retailers including Wal-Mart and Sharper Image.
Some users are even using the entrepreneur opportunity to raise money for a good cause. Zawacki mentioned some are using the stand to raise money for their high school sports team, and some are trying to raise money for charities like the American Red Cross.
