Confirming your worst fears: How "social media" is a waste of time and money.
Hi folks,
I am about to save you a ton of money and time. Even better, we are about to permanently lift the "uncertainty-fog" about social media in regards to your top level business strategy.
Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about. ; -)
As the developer of Theme Zoom I have been in a position to observe the development of the social media frenzy at a high altitude. Additionally, Charles Heflin and I have developed and educated the market on various blue-print models in the past which have uniquely prepared us to cut through the frenzied-hype.
I am not trying to sound all "high-and-mighty". I am genuinely concerned about some bad business choices I have seen a couple of people make recently when jumping on the social media bandwagon.
Just because we have a top-down approach does not mean we will neglect "bottom-up" tasking and business process mapping connected with Social Media.

Social media is POWERFUL if you understand it. But distractions created by Social Media Marketing can DESTROY YOUR BUSINESS if you do not firmly GRASP and dismiss useless actions.
There are 4 kinds of social media networks that you need to "Understand, categorize and dismiss" in order to effectively pursue and profit from your own "unique and eccentric business model".

(By the way, I LOVE social media and use it AVIDLY. This article is not some ploy to keep you distracted into using our application to the detriment of other marketing multi-channel modalities that need to be on your reticular radar.
Art and I teach the value of Multi-Channel Marketing to our University members. And social medial networks are coming online by the MILLIONS.
However you need to CATEGORIZE and DISMISS useless ventures in the area of Social Networking or you will begin to neglect the business fundamentals. This error is is costing people that I care about too much time and money. (That means you!)
That is why I am "RANTING" about this.
Remember the 80-20 rule. People spend 80% of their time ignoring 20% of the most important things they should be doing to become wealthy! OUCH! (Sounds like the 30 minutes I spend on facebook widgets determining if Sherman Hu likes the same movies I do).
