Latent Semantic Indexing
More on the topic of latent semantic indexing from the Theme Zoom team:
I had an interesting discussion about keyword research inside Jill Whalen's (Highrankings.com) forum. I was also checking for topics and articles about latent semantic indexing on Technorati and found that Jill's forum is well syndicated throughout the blogsphere which I did not know before.
Anyhow, during this discussion an outstanding article called The Keyword Tools Trap by Scottie Claiborne was brought to my attention. In this article he makes the points that I make in an outdated camtasia presentation called "The seven different types of keywords". The point is that most people want to optimize for highly trafficked keywords and forget the many other kinds of keywords and keyword strategies that will drive qualified traffic to your website.
One of the seven types of keywords that are useful in creating your keyword driven latent semantic framework is what we call an "effective keyword". In our definition, "effective" keywords are keywords that visitors have already used to arrive on your website. There are powerful ways to keep track of these golden keyword nuggets and crack them wide open revealing new prospects and potential markets. For example you may discover that certain unexpected terms are being used again and again to find your website- and you have only accidentally mentioned these themes somewhere in your website content. You were not targeting them with your keyword research, but they still brought you research-based quality traffic. This can also be called "accidental traffic".
I cover some of the basic concepts on how to use Theme Zoom to create more search engine traffic.
I will continue to upload our Free keyword research and latent semantic indexing tutorials on Google Video. Currently we have vidoes under the keywords "keyword research" and "latent semantic indexing".
