Matt Cutts is a real hoot. I was reading a blog post where he describes the lameness of most affiliate websites. What was even more funny was a link to the testimonial generator. With this tool you may type in the name of ANY product and it will insert a bogus testimonial that is automatically generated. If you want to, you can hit refresh and it will generate another testimonial- just in case you don't like the first one it spits out. Matt Cutt's is a real "cut up".

Why not just turn this into a feed and have ALL the testimonials on your website be dynamically generated?

Testimonials are going the way of the highway. Because of the over-saturated affiliate marketing world- that is marketers marketing "marketing" all the time . . . everyone and their grandmother is selling some crappy affiliate product. As a result you have the need for a whole new service.

So websites like "trusted testimonials" are popping up who offer to call and "authenticate" your testimonials. But how do you trust these guys either? (I am sure I will be getting an e-mail on this comment). In the end the solution to website mistrust is excellent content- plenty of visitor enhanced optimization . . . and a sales process that makes sense to the user.

Too many testimonials may actually HURT your credibilty rather than help it. It demands the question "what are yoiu trying to prove". Testimonials still work . . . but use them with care. Don't put them all over the page.
