Many of you have already been advised of the upcoming Facebook fanpage changes that could seriously mess with some of the “Pimped” Fanpage upgrades of the past. There appears to be much confusion around this on the web.
Essentially these new changes will effect Fanpages that use the static FBML to design the Tabs on a Fanpage.
Why is Facebook doing this?
Previously Facebook Fanpage admins could design and customize the Facebook tabs and had 720 pixels to work with. This will shrink substantially to only 520 pixels:
Why are they doing this, you may ask?
They need more advertising space. (Surprise surprise). Facebook is on a major campaign to increase its profits.
But this is not all bad.
The changes include a default location in the tabs for the left column profile, or what some people call the Facebook Banner. Essentially it will always be showing just like it does on your Wall or Info tab.
So give a little, take a little. We will see where it goes.
