Hi folks,
My friend and CEO of Ribbon and Gourd slipped me a copy of the recent book by Gary Vaynerchuck who I covered previously in a blog post about following your passion. Remember passion for the business that you building or have chosen is NOT something that the Krakken application can give you. This is why it is wise to enjoy the business you are in. If you are an SEO or a Social Marketing Consultant, I am assuming that you enjoy what you do already. ; – )
Here is the video I referred to in the previous blog post. Although it is 24 months old, it is still evergreen in essence:
In his book “Crush It“, Gary lays down a simple online and social marketing plan to infuse your “passion” into your small business.
I think this “mini-marketing plan” is a terrific reminder for all of us, including professional Krakken Crunchers and SEO consultants. There is a tendency to get lost in gigantic plans and huge process maps that really cannot be done without an application to guide you. (We are building such a framework (Online Business Wizard Application) called DWS for much larger market domination process maps).
But you know and I know that the average small business owner cannot manage really large market domination process maps.
Please be advised that I do not agree with every single technical point on Gary’s list- such as buying your domain from Godaddy. he must have gotten a stipend for product placement. Don’t go to Godaddy because it is easy to install a blog. I find GD slightly wanting when it comes to blogs that have membership software installed. I have had pretty good luck so far with Uptimehost.com. These guys are exceptionally good at hosting complex blogs.
With that said, here the “basics” that Gary recommends that you do not forget:
1. Identify your Passion
2. Find at least 50 Awesome Bog topics to ensure stickiness
3. Answer the Following Questions:
a. Am I sure my passion is what I think it is?
b. Can I talk about it better than anyone else?
4. Name your personal brand. You don’t have to refer to it anywhere in the content, but you should have a clear idea of what it is. for example, “The no-bs-real-estate-agent.” “The coninoisseur of cookware,” “The cool guide to young-adult books boys will love to read.”
5. Buy your user name-.com and .tv if possible- at godaddy.com (tz note: Think “most important keyword” when buying your domain, it makes it soooo much easier to rank!)
6. Choose your medium: video, audio, written word.
7. Start a WordPress or Tumbler account.
8. Hire a designer.
9. Include a Facebook Connect link, Call-to-Action buttons, Share functions, and button that invites people to do business with you in a prominent place on your blog.
10. Create a Facebook Fan Page.
11. Sign up for Ping.fm or Tubemogul.com and select all the platforms to which you want to distribute your content. Choosing twitter and facebook is imperative.
12. Post your content. (tz note: Remember your titles will now be viral – Think about what will trigger a click! Remember to include the primary keyword in your title and all appropriate keywords in tags)
13. Start creating community by leaving comments on other peoples blogs and forums and replying to comments on your own blog.
14. Use Twitter Search (or search.twitter) to find as many people talking about your topic, and communicate with them. (TZ Note: Start by using your keyword DNA)
15. Use blogsearch.Google.com to find more blogs that are relevant to your topic. (TZ Note: Keyword DNA again)
16. Join as many active Facebook fan pages and groups relating to your topic as possible.
17. Repeat steps 12 through 16 over and over and over and over.
18. Do it again.
19. And again.
20. When you feel your personal brand has gained sufficient attention and stickiness, start reaching out to advertisers and begin monetizing.
21. Enjoy the ride.
As you can see your Keyword DNA is braided through this entire process. If you don’t have your personalized DNA braid defined already, The Last Keyword Tool can help.
