Good info that many are overlooking about Google news. I’d imagine that for quite a few web biz owners, it’s just a matter of finding a good writer on elance, gaf or any other freelance site to get into Google News. That’s what I did with one of my sites and was accepted. One other thing I’d point out is that it’s probably important to have history. I waited about 8 months before applying to Google News and had a strong history of constant updates. I really think that helped. The other thing that’s really important and actually led to a rejection the first time for me is that you have to have a list of your editors with contact info on the about or contact page. They also want to see that it’s a real business, so if you can say website.com is a division or or run by Biz LLC or Inc that will really help as well.

Because we received such a positive response from the last blog post, we have decided to add some additional information that may help you be successful in your mission to become an official Google News Partner.
There are only 25,000 approved Google News Partner organizations worldwide. Google syndicates out their news to thousands of other sites, and news partners are given priority status on spidering, indexing and keeping partner sites current in the search results. You can also now, once you are approved as a Google news partner, apply to be a YouTube news partner, and have featured status on YouTube. The general rules are also pretty tough, so don’t hold your breath.

Best wishes on your strategy to become an Authority Site in the new Web 2.0 environment! Now you have even more reasons to target the proper theme clusters and create a proper Website silo Architecture. You are going to need to carefully select the keywords and themes that you will use for your 2 primary categories and/or topics that your expert news articles will cover. Make sure you research your theme well before making this choice.
