Missed Opportunity #5: Cheaper and More Effective Inbound Link Campaigns

Missed Opportunity #5:

Most people work 10 times harder than they should building an inbound anchor-text link campaign because they do not know about Website Silo Architecture. This is a massive missed opportunity. You can rank for keyword using up to 10 times fewer inbound links if you use Theme Mirroring.

Podcast: How to Rank Higher for Hundreds of Keywords Using Fewer Inbound Links

“You don’t know what you don’t know . . . until you know it.” (So the timeless adage goes)

Most web masters do not know how a properly themed website amplifies the effect of inbound link juice. Advanced SEO’s would prefer that this knowledge be kept confidential.

The primary purpose of Website Silo Architecture is to help you rank higher on the search engines for hundreds of profitable keywords using far fewer inbound links than any of your competitors.

This is probably one of the best kept secrets in the SEO industry . . . and we know that it works.

Here is a note from a Theme Zoom Krakken client, and one of the most skilled SEO/SEM consultants in the country:

Dear Russell and Sue,

I have been seeing a very large improvement in the time necessary for indexing of new silo’d structured content and the ranking of keywords in Google. This is across the board on all types of content publishing systems (html, cms, etc.)

What over the past year had been taking weeks is now taking days.

Might be due to my increased off-page ranking factor capabilities (larger diversity of links). Not sure. Regardless, very cool stuff and it is translating into actionable events from the organic traffic.

Mr. Black

P.S – I am NOT seeing the same effect in non-silod content.

A formalized test of siloing with “theme mirroring” (discussed below) has proven to be up to TEN TIMES more effective than haphazard inbound link strategies performed by many webmasters. This test was performed across hundreds of real-world commercial websites that implemented theme mirroring and Website Silo Architecture.

Theme Domination: Ranking Higher for Fewer Inbound Links

Ordinary “business intelligence” and “keyword research” tools seemed to be targeting only one of the three very important Website Success Agendas at any given time. (We discuss these more later.)

These tools do not generally help you integrate all three agendas necessary for holistic business, marketing and website success (See Pyramid of Promotion). Your end goal is not merely to perform research and VOMA (vertical online market analysis). The goal is to increase the transactional success for your (or your client’s) website by building Theme Clusters that will sweeten your USP-driven Market Story. Yes, keywords make up that story, but your USP (unique selling position) drives your transactions as well as your perceived Brand value.

Theme Mirroring

Though on-page ranking factors are important, off-page ranking factors are key to successful ranking on the search engines. Google (and other search engines) consider the source and strength (link juice) when looking at link citations pointing at your site. Link citations are “inbound links” pointing to any page on your website. When the keyword “anchortext” used in inbound links match the keywords and themes you desire to rank for on the search engines, you have effectively done much of the work for Google by helping Googlebot to determine what your site is about. At Theme Zoom, we call the “matching” of on-page and off-page “keyword” ranking factors Theme Mirroring.

What this means is that the keywords, themes and synonymic sets you are targeting on your website should match the keywords, themes and synonymic sets you apply to an inbound linking campaign.

There are many different ranking factors to consider when building a website, but Theme Mirroring (on-page silo keywords matching off-page keywords) is by far the most important.

If you are unfamiliar with the concept of “ranking factors” you may watch the following video. I would suggest that you do not overwhelm yourself with too much information and mass opinion about the Google algorithm . . . because it will eat up a whole lot of your precious time. For a short overview, here is a short tutorial:

Getting Stable Rankings More Easily With Buoyant Page Rank

High rankings are only a small part of your overall online business strategy- and an even smaller part of your long term business success. Even so, it is still important to achieve High Rankings for your site. To do that, you need to build a strong inbound link campaign to your website, which can be hard work. There is a right way and a wrong way to accomplish this, and website silo architecture methodology makes this easier. Inbound link building is one of the main areas that many people struggle with early on in their SEO career. Building links generally takes a lot of time, regardless of whether you decide to do it correctly or incorrectly. (Note: Fortunately we have developed a link building technology that makes this easier, called Theme Zoom Domain Web Studio).

So why not start implementing a Website Silo Architecture right away? Most of your competitors won’t bother.

To make matters worse, I discovered quite by accident that most SEO methods did not implement the simple truth of Silo Website Architecture. This means that most people are working up to TEN TIMES harder than they should be because they are not building themed websites.

Website Silo Architecture and the Buoyant Page Rank Effect go hand in hand. When I discovered Silo Website Architecture (originally introduced to me personally by Bruce Clay in 2003), it became clear that I had been working way too hard gathering the wrong kind of inbound links- while improperly linking within the internal pages of my site.

With only a little knowledge and some changes in my website building technique, it became clear that I could be ranking higher across more terms (a wider synonymic net) with far fewer inbound links than I previously believed possible.

Now that we have defined “Missed Opportunity #5″ let me explain how Krakken Solves the problem:

Step 1: On the Theme Market Analysis Screen, click the “competitive analysis” button:

Step 2: You will be provided with the number of inbound links and the percentage of deep links to the top 3 websites. This gives you a broad and general indication of how competitive the inbound link campaign is for the theme or keyword you are analyzing.

Step 3: If you wish to get super-detailed information you will need to go one step further. Click the “Whitepaper” tab:

image-31

Step 4: The Competitive White Paper will first show you graphs of the Organic Market Value Distribution over the top ten competitors on the first page of Google.

image-41

It will also reveal extremely important ranking factor details for each one of these top ten domains. These details include:

- The Google Organic Ranking Value for the position of the specific domain.

- The number of pages indexed in Google.

- The number of deep links to the domain in question.

- Notations of .gov and .edu links that may be pointing to the site. (important ranking factor consideration)

- The page rank of the site in question.

- The position of the domain for the Theme or keyword in question.

- The date and age of the site (date created is also an important consideration)

image-51

By looking at the ranking factor details of the top ten contenders for a given keyword or synonymic set, you will get a very good indication of how much money and time will be required in order to rank for the theme or theme cluster.

Step 5: (Advanced) The Competitive White Paper is not limited to analyzing one keyword at a time. As a Krakken member you are taught to “swallow your whole keyword market” while creating a website theme. You will learn to create a synonymic set. When you have a synonymic set you will be able to look at the ranking details of more than one word at a time. For example, www.personalcashadvance.com is ranked number one for both payday loans and payday loan, but www.paydayloanaffiliate.com is ranked number 10 for “payday loan” and number 7 for “payday loans.” Also, www.paydayloan.com is NOT ranked for “payday loans” (with an “s”) at all! As you get better at using the application you will begin to see that most of your competitors only target one or two keywords at a time. You will be ranking in high positions for your entire theme cluster as well as your synonymic net:
