Nailing the First Million – Get Your Blog Indexed in 24 Hours

Today I want to share with you the two things I do that get my blogs indexed in a 24 hour period. Quick, simple and painless.
1. Install Google Analytics. In my last post about Nailing the First Million we covered a plugin for Google Analytics. This makes putting analytics on your blog painless, so you don’t have to mess around with your template – I recommend this and to do it right away when you are setting up your blog – just make it part of your process map.
2. Get a Feedburner feed for your blog. A WordPress blog will automatically create an rss feed for itself. You don’t have to do anything special to make that happen. As soon as the blog is live you should see the familiar little orange and white rss emblem at the bottom left corner of your blog. Click on that and it will take you to the page that holds your feed. This is the url that you need to give Feedburner to create the Feedburner feed for your site.
I recommend you explore feedburner if you have not done so recently. They are always updating that application and it has many cool features.
However, you don’t need to putz with the default settings to get your site ranked, you can just create the feed and, as my Aussie friends say, Bob’s your uncle.
I have to admit that it may be only one of these two actions are necessary – I do them both as a matter of course and it works well for me. Of course, your results may vary, but I’m sure Google will find you quickly if you have your site in two of their applications
How to get traffic the first day (even before your site is indexed) coming in just a couple of hours… stay tuned.
