The secondary Google database, called the supplemental index, will probably not cease to exist, it will simply become invisible.
The idea is that the general public will no longer know if a listing is in the supplemental index, or the real index.
Jerry West of Webmarketingnow.com noticed a massive decline of his website pages that were contained in the supplemental index. (Around 70% reduction and up to 90% in some cases).
Is this the end of SEO and SEM as we know it?
No.
It simply means that people will waste less time “whining and worrying” about supplemental listings that may come from low quality link building, poor website theme-ing, and/or duplicate content contained within your OWN website.
This will allow a TON more time for doing what really needs to be done:
1. Organizing your top level market themes and providing amazing content that your target market demands.
2. Building themed relationships (or tangent market relationships) with websites that can drive qualified prospects directly into your database.
3. Spend more time creating a unique selling position and less time worrying about Google’s “split personality” (i.e. main database and secondary database).
