Co-occurrence In Review

Co-occurrence In Review

As we simplify the Theme Zoom online site building process via the release of Domain Web Studio application, it is appropriate to review that old familiar term called “co-occurrence”.

Within the step-by-step DWS system, we have avoided using overly technical “Frakken-words” that might scare the intermediate online marketer.

Nevertheless, there is one term and concept that is worthy of review, because understanding it will help you gather actionable data that is not standard in keywords research tools. (Except Krakken ™ )

Co-occurrence:

Co-occurrence simply refers to the number of times two words appear in the same document. This document may be considered to be of any size. For example, the advance mathematics of LSA (latent semantic analysis) considers the entire internet to be a single document. If you think about it this really makes sense if you consider that the whole thing is essentially a gigantic pile of “ones and zeros.” Imagine you were large enough to look down on a gigantic piece of paper the size of the whole galaxy and read it like a newspaper. This gigantic “newspaper” is the “visible text” of the entire internet in a single document. If you have very keen vision, you will notice that certain words and ideas tend to “cluster” together- which means they are near to each other in proximity. If you understand what all of these clusters are, you can create websites that imitate and profit from these natural groupings. (This is why Theme Zoom and Domain Web Studio talk about Theme Clusters so often).

When you break down that giant “galaxy sized document” into smaller “pages” you will see those same clusters of words appearing commonly together- often times on the same page. This is what we call “co-occurrence.”

In order to create a keyword (theme) ool that returns information about co-occurrences of certain terms in similar documents, the Theme zoom developers had to go through all kinds of technical pain and cruel and unusual punishment. (Just ask them).

It is also not cheap to provide this data to users. But it is very useful when you know how to profit from the data and make it actionable.

This is why it is very important to have a step by step process of helping our users understand how to quickly utilize this data and make it more affordable. This is why we have built the TZ-DWS (Domain Web Studio) application and project management system.
