We had a pretty big response to our last podcast Can You Buy Your Friends on Facebook? Feel free to download and listen at your leisure.
In that podcast Theme Zoom Architect Sue Bell talked about implementing Facebook ‘page likes’ on individual pages of your website, and addressed the impact that this will have on the future of the web. We also covered the benefits of implementing this on your own website. Not everyone is fully comprehending where the whole FB connect and page linking practice is going. Pay attention to the changes going down so that the next three years is not a black swan for you or your business.
You may already have noticed that the Facebook profile page is continuing to undergo changes over the last few days.
Recent upgrades to FB profile pages involve photographs across your top line of vision. This will change the dynamics of your personal commitment to your own profile page for a number of reasons. This topic deserve a neuromarketing paper all to itself.
The whole purpose of Facebook testing profile redesigns is to get users to spend more and more time inside their Facebook accounts. This new ‘image train’ for personal photos makes use of I call the preening factor to make pages stickier. Facebook will publicly position personal photos for you to mess around with, and carefully test behaviors. They will create ever more ways for you to accidentally (mis) represent yourself to your social network according to technologist Jaron Lanier in You Are Not A Gadget. Because of these ever increasing digital photo preening options, you will need to put time into your personal Public Relations in the near future. Facebook will no longer be an after-thought for online reputation management.
Taking into consideration that a large portion of the Facebook demographic is going to be spending increasingly more time messing with their profile, you better start connecting the Facebook universe to your individual web pages. Even if you can’t stand Facebook, and do not use it, you will only benefit from this practice.
One of the easy ways to begin this ‘interlacing’ of FB with web is to implement a simple ‘like’ comment box (such as the one located at the bottom of this blog post) is to use Facebook Comments for wordpress.
We do recommend that you leave your blog comments active as some visitors will elect to use a more direct method of interactive and providing feedback for your content.
Remember, FB is not the only channel of social media communication, it is just quickly become the strongest one. For your personal business network, it is a good idea to clean up your Linked In page for a more conservative approach to your business contacts.

Thanks Russell.
I agree that this plugin can only help WP users. At the 500 million mark, Facebook should have been a huge wake up call, but alas, some still sleep on it.
