Google Plus Business Pages Launch: Should You Get One?

Google Plus Business Pages Launched for everyone this week. I received an excited email from Chris Lang and I enjoyed his article on why you should you may want to consider NOT creating a Google Plus Business Page:

Google+ Business Pages Could Hurt Your BrandHere’s why you should Not create a Google+ Business page and the top five things to ask yourself Before creating a G+ Page. Yesterday Google released Pages for Businesses and brands, surprising us all at the speed and determination Google is displaying with the breakneck Google+ rollout.

I think one of the things that Chris overlooks in the article may be the unique use of Google Hang Outs in the Google Plus Business Page environment. I could be wrong about this, but it looks like there are some exceptional functions of Google Hangs Outs that will be unique to business- such as unique rings of involvement and Private Engagement for certain customer groups. I have not verified this- because it is entirely possible that the same function will be available in personal Google Plus accounts. We are predicting that Google will move into the Gotomeeting space for group communications targeting specific rings of customers.

I consider the Google Plus One page a potentially powerful asset to local business owners!  It is certainly better than not having a website at all, and will help you easily promote yourself on the search engines for local keywords and themes.  Take our local business course to learn more. Combined with a couple of other local search methods, including video, the local coffee shop could crush-it!

You may want to hear more about Google Plus Business Pages from Brad Horowitz over at Google. This is straight from the horses mouth:

Google’s Brad Horowitz Explains Google+ Pages (GOOG)Here’s Google+ product boss Brad Horowitz appearing on Bloomberg West last night to talk about the new Pages feature, which lets companies, bands, and other entities represent themselves on Google+. He also takes the opportunity to deny rumors that user engagement is low despite having lots of users registered.
